Chief director of the theatre has become a laureate of Les Kurbas Prize

The director of Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Yevhen Lavrenchuk was awarded Les Kurbas Prize in 2020 for staging the opera “La Traviata” by G. Verdi. Such results of secret ballot are reported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

This is the first time when an opera has been awarded with this Prize. Yevhen Lavrenchuk was awarded the title of laureate of Les Kurbas Prize.

Yevhen Lavrenchuk graduated from Russian Institute of Theatre Art (workshop of Roman Viktiuk) with a degree “opera director”, then finished the higher courses of choreography at the Marie Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, Poland), advanced courses of directors of feature films (Moscow). Since March 2018 he has been appointed a chief director of Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

He is an author of more than 30 productions on various Ukrainian and foreign stages; he is a winner of international competitions and festivals in Europe. He carries out productions, he carries out active pedagogical activity in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Lithuania and Israel as well. Yevhen Lavrenchuk is an author of the teaching methods of actor art and directing.
