Nadiia Sychuk and Vladyslav Horai will perform the main parts in “La Traviata”

The main parts in the performance “La Traviata”, which will be held on Sunday, January 19, will be performed by Honoured Artist of Ukraine Vladyslav Horai (Alfredo Germont) and Nadiia Sychuk (Violetta Valery). For the first time artists will take part in the new version of the most popular opera by Giuseppe Verdi.

Vladyslav Horai is a winner of the national chamber music competition in Khmelnytskyi. He has the prize of the International Vocalist Competition named after Antonín Dvořák (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic). He graduated from Vinnitsa State Pedagogical Institute and Odessa Conservatory (now National Music Academy) named after Antonina Nezhdanova. He has been working at Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre since 1993. The singer’s repertoire includes more than twenty opera parts.

From 2000 to 2003 he worked at State Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Constanta (Romania). He toured in many cities in the UK, Spain, the USA, Canada, Italy, Macau and Israel. He participated in international opera projects in Rome, Lyon, Strasbourg, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Brussels, Lisbon, Chisinau, Moscow, Almaty and other cultural centers. In 2013 he received the title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine.

Nadiia Sychukis a laureate of the international vocal competitions in Vorzel, Simferopol, Lviv, the Romanian Galati and Tashkent. She graduated from the vocal faculty and got postgraduate education in Odessa State (now National) Music Academy named after Antonina Nezhdanova. She performs numerous leading parts of the current repertoire of the theatre.
In 2008 the singer was invited to the musical theatre Nae Leonardo in Galati, where she performed the part of Gilda (“Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi) and sang in concerts “Gala lirica” and “In Memory of Maria Callas”. In the same year she participated in the concert “From Mozart to Verismo” in the Philharmonic named after George Enescu (Bucharest) with a conductor Roberto Gianola (Italy). She toured with this programme in Rome, Naples, Genoa, Lucca.

The other parts in the performance on January 19 will be performed by Kateryna Tsymbaliuk (Flora), Oleksii Zhmudenko (Giorgio Germont), People's Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Navrotskyi (Barone Douphol), Pavlo Smyrnov (Gastone), Oleksii Hruzin (Marchese d'Obigny), Viktor Shevchenko (doctor Grenvil), Alina Druhak (Annina) and Ivan Fliak (Commissioner).

The premiere of the opera “La Traviata” in the directorial version of the theatre’s chief director Yevhen Lavrenchuk took place on November 9 and 10. The influential newspaper “Dzerkalo Tyzhnya” (“Mirror Weekly”) included it in the list of the most significant events in the cultural life of Ukraine in 2019.
