December 8 is declared the Day of national mourning

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi declared December 8 as the Day of national mourning for those who died in Odessa during a great fire that occurred on December 4. At the current moment, ten people are known to be the victims of the fire.

“I declare Sunday, December 8, as the Day of national mourning for those who died in Odessa. Tomorrow we will lower the state flags. Let's cancel noisy holidays and festivities. We should stop and think. Let this tragic event be a lesson for all officials, leaders, for all citizens of Ukraine ... We will pray for the repose of the souls of the dead. We will look for those who have been missed, praying and hoping to find them alive. We will work in order not to repeat it again, ” the Head of State wrote on his Facebook page.

The decree of the President of Ukraine on declaring the Day of mourning in Ukraine was published on the official website of the Head of State.

The staff and management of Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre join to sincere condolences on the victims of the tragedy.
