Today Ilona Topchyi will debut in the ballet “Carmen Suite”

Ballet dancer Ilona Topchyi will first appear on the stage of the theatre in the ballet “Carmen Suite” by Bizet-Shchedrin. The theatre-goerswill see her as Fate.

The other parts will be performed by Mariia Riazantseva(Carmen), Honoured Artist of the Republic of Moldova Volodymyr Statnyi(Jose), Honoured Artist of Ukraine Serhii Dotsenko(Torero), Dmytro Dzenik(Corregidor), Anzhelika and Veronika Levshina (Tabacco Sellers).

The world premiere of the performance "Carmen Suite" was heldon April 20, 1967 in Moscow on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. The authors created this performance especially for the ballerina Maiia Plisetska. The composer Rodion Shchedrin creatively re-arranged the musical material of the famous opera by Georges Bizet, the Cuban choreographer Alberto Alonso proposed an interesting concept of conflict and a choreographic solution to the work, and the set design by Borys Messerer, who proposed to use corrida, summarized and visualized the musical and dramatic design of the performance.

Today the ballet "Chopiniana" will also be performed.
