The Odessa Opera produces a ballet for children The Lion King and The Queen of Hyenas (photo)

The Odessa Opera staff are completing the rehearsal period for the children's ballet The Lion king and The Queen of Hyenas. The first show is a tribute to the International Day of Children that is on 1 June. The second and third shows will take place on 14 and 27 June respectively.

The students of the Odessa Ballet School and the Odessa Opera ballet artists take part in the production.

"Children like watching TV and playing computer games but they do not like doing something that requires some extra efforts, f.e. ballet", says a ballet coach of the Odessa Ballet School Svetlana SOKOLOVA-YEVTIFEYEVA who is also the producing choreographer and the libretto author. She has chosen the plot that is well-known to the young audience from the Disney Studio cartoon and the computer games and has produced the story about ever-lasting values of Love, Friendship, Good and Evil.

The score of the Lion King and the Queen of Hyenas has the music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Hand Zimmer and Elton John. The producing set designers are Eugene GURENKO, Honoured Artist of Ukraine and Oleg GURENKO. The costume designers are Natalia GRIGORYEVA and Olga KOVALCHUK. The project supervisor is Honoured Artist of Russia Yuri VASYUCHENKO, the Odessa Opera principal choreographer.

 

  

The children's ballet The Lion King and the Queen of Hyenas is the last premiere in the 204th theatrical season of the Odessa Opera. The staff goes on leave at the beginning of July.
