CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL  2017

Christmas Festival 2017 will be held at Odessa Opera House from 8 to 15 January for the sixth time. The festival has been appreciated by the Odessa music lovers and has become the traditional music forum, it saves the main pequliarity, presenting exclusive festival programmes for submitting to the music admirers for approval. The premiere of the oratorio “Elijah” by Felix Mendelssohn as well as «Messa di Gloria» by G. Puccini and "the Gloria" by F. Poulenc were held at Christmas Festival-2016, the world premiere of the choral opera "Christmas Presentation" by Lesya Dychko with interesting concert programmes was introduced at Festival-2015.

«Christmas in My Heart»

The concert programme in 2 parts

 «Christmas festival 2017» will be opened with the unique concert programme «Christmas in My Heart».

Brilliant works by W. A. Mozart, A. Vivaldi, L. Vinci, G. H. Handel as well as Christmas Carols will be sung by the world famous singer Yuriy Minenko (counter-tenor), the choir artists, Maria Mogilevskaya (violin), orchestra of theatre.

The conductor -Chief conductor of Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre Alexandru Samoila.

«Christmas Solosinging»

The concert programme in 1 parts

Honoured artist of Ukraine Nina Matviyenko and special guest Antonina Matviyenko will take part in the programme «Christmas Solosinging».

They will perform magic Christmas Carols which are skillfully «painted» with «water-colour» singing of an outstanding modern Ukrainian singer; the works of famous Ukrainian composers accompanied by the orchestra under the baton of chief conductor of the theatre Alexandru Samoila will also sound.

«Consecration by Christmas music».

The concert programme in 2 parts

The artists of Odessa National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet - Honoured artist of Ukraine Larisa Zuenko, Honoured artists of Ukraine Tatiana Zakharchuk, Elena Starudubzeva, Alina Vorokh, Anastasia Golub, Natalia Pavlenko, Yulia Tereshchuk, Ekaterina Tsymbalyuk, Harry Gukasyan, Vasiliy Dobrovolskiy, Dmitriy Mikheev, Alexander Prokopovich, Pavel Smirnov, Viktor Shevchenko will present to the listeners unforgettable moments of Christmas inspiration in a concert "Consecration by Christmas music".

 The programme includes the works by W. A. Mozart, P. Mascagni, D. Bortnianskiy, G.F. Handel, S. Frank, Christmas Carols.

The following artists will participate in the concert:

Chapel of bandura players of ONMA named after A. V. Nezhdanova (the artistic director - Honoured artist of Ukraine Lyudmila Chernetskaya)

Children's choir of Odessa Music School named after P. S. Stolyarskiy (the artistic director - Tatiana Yakovchuk)

Choir and orchestra of the theatre.

Conductor - Igor Chernetskiy.

The Nutcracker

Set designer – Olena Gavdzynska 

Costume designer  – Nadya Shvets, Honoured Painter of Ukraine 

The ballet "Nutcracker" by P. Tchaikovsky with the participation invited the winner of the Grand Prix of the VII International Serge Lifar Ballet Competition (2011), the winner of the international competitions Andrey Pisarev will bring the programme «Christmas festival 2017» to a close.
